PIANO DUO

Gillian Bithel and Beate Toyka, the well-known Derbyshire piano duo, are both graduates of the Royal Academy of Music in London. They have worked together for 17 years and performed widely as a duo in four-hand repertoire as well as with works for two pianos. They played the UK premiere of Carl Czerny’s duet arrangement of Mozart’s Requiem and have a long standing, happy working friendship with choirs in Derby and in Nottingham. With the Derby Piano Quartet, 8 hands on 2 pianos, they have given concerts all over the country, have encouraged young ensembles to form and travelled to Osnabrück to perform on the invitation of the mayor there.
